Quick version if it's your first OpenVPN installation:
For those comfortable with Windows systems, follow these steps:
- -Install OpenVPN.
- -Launch OpenVPN GUI, which has a shortcut (orange icon) on your desktop.
- -Right-click on the OpenVPN application at the bottom right next to the clock and connect.
The installation file sent by Alkivi already contains all the configuration files required for your identification.
Longer version if you want to install your VPN configuration on an already installed OPENVPN:
In this tutorial, we assume that the "OpenVPN" VPN client is already installed, and you have received a configuration via email in a zip archive. If you haven't received a configuration, you can request it from Alkivi Support.
If you don't have OpenVPN installed, you can download it by clicking on this link : https://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/OpenVPN-2.5.9-I601-amd64.msi
Please note that it's important to have version 2.5.x (our configurations are not yet compatible with OpenVPN 2.6).
Launch "OpenVPN GUI" with the orange logo below:
An error message may appear at launch:
Once your archive is downloaded, it will appear in the "Downloads" folder:
Next, extract the archive using 7zip (or equivalent if you don't use 7zip):
Then, copy the extracted archive:
Go to your personal folder:
Then into the "OpenVPN" folder:
Then into the "config" folder inside it and paste the folder:
You have now set up your VPN configuration files. The next step is to connect.
